What are small sided sports? Well, it's smaller, and in our opinion, more fun versions of the sports everyone knows. For example, small sided soccer, or 3v3 soccer, only has 3 players per side and no goalie (with of course a much smaller goal) and is played on a field approx 20x30 yards instead of 11 players per side and 80x120 yards.
We're currently hosting "Ironman" hockey tournaments as well. Ironman hockey is 4v4 with goalies but without a neutral zone and with no line changes. Ironman games are only 10 minutes long but without any line changes or replacements on the bench, it's a really long 10 minutes. Ironman hockey is especially fun for parents since their players are on the ice the entire game and with no neutral zone, it's a run and gun version the big game.
In the new future we'll also host 3v3 Basketball and small-sided indoor flag football tournaments.
Our goal is to have a good time. Our focus on small sided sports helps parents and players to just come out and play and have a good time. No need to coordinate 10 or 20 families to play some soccer or hockey over the weekend. Small sided sports are also a great way to develop individual skills and gain additional playing time.
Another focus of ours is "free agent" players. We're building a roster of free agents players that don't have a team but who want to play. We'll add these players to teams looking for an extra player or we'll build an entire team for these guys. This works well for players just getting into tournament sports, players who move a lot, and players just wanting to give a new sport a try.
